Nursing in Style

I always wanted to be pregnant during the summer. Cute tanks and skirts to show off the curve of a belly bump. But instead I was swaddled in sweaters and jeans and still sweating in -20 degree weather.

Moms of summer babies might curse the heat but at least they get to nurse in style. Mid-march I was lifting up tons of layers for Hannah to get to the final destination. But summer moms can just "pop" them out for a quick snack.

And this summer they can do it even easier thanks to a new collection by Boob. This line of nursing dresses eliminates the conundrum of having to hike up your dress to make feeding fast. Complete with breast overlap, these styles keep nursing totally discreet.

Battle of the Boobs

My boobs are big.

Sure its all relative. I'm not touting a DD rack but (without divulging my cup size) I can tell you that since I was pregnant, things have not quite been the same.

Most women, I gather, would be thrilled. I, on the other hand, am not. More than a handful is a waste and my pre-pregnancy bust line was just fine. Oh, and did I mention that I could fit into a size medium top with much ease?

Now, I have a closet full of tops that are just too tight. As the Jewish holidays approach I took inventory of my wardrobe and let me tell you, there are slim pickings. But do I really feel like going to buy a whole new holiday wardrobe when I know I will spend most of my days in Lulus anyways? Definitely not.

I've managed to fashion a few outfits that can be updated with a pair of new shoes or some other accessories. But I fondly look forward to the day when I can slip into my shirts and shimmy into my sweaters, without feeling like I am busting at the seams.

Hopefully, that day isn't too far off.

August Ninth

August 9th is just two weeks away, but it is on my mind everyday. Friends of ours are getting married and I am working hard to have an enjoyable evening sans Bebe and with minimal phone calls from the grandparents.

You see, in the past, we would need to rush home from social functions to be greeted by a red-eyed, bawling Hannah. I would peel off my top in record speed and quickly soothe her with the boob.

Well, I am proud to say that she now will fall asleep without me and my mammary glands. Just the sound of a heartbeat and some back rubbing will do the trick (usually on the 2nd or 3rd attempt). I'm not yet ready for ferberizing and quite pleased with my accomplishment for the moment.

So my in-laws won't have a problem putting her to bed but now I need to work on my second mission. She's a night owl, only going to bed around 10pm. But since the wedding starts at 6:30, a nap is inevitable.

How can the boob-less grandparents get this little one to have some early evening shut eye?

A drive in the car or a walk in the park are options but I'd rather not rely on crooked sidewalks and city potholes.

Any other suggestions to make nap time a bit more relaxing?
